We decided for New Years Eve to go to the drive in movies to see Frozen. We packed up the big car, went and bought lollies and off we went. We got pizza on the way and arrived early around 6pm and it was nearly full. The movie didn't start until 7:45pm. Now to eat and entertain the kids for nearly 2 hours....
The 2 big kids were doing well chatting and moving around the car but Miss L we had to take for a few walks. Around 7pm she was grumpy and getting tired. I went for a walk with Mr J to the toilets and i told him to wait out the front for me. Well I walked out and he wasn't there. I nearly panicked he is the kid who hates losing me, who never walks away. What was going on? I checked inside again and walked around the toilets, still no Mr J. I really started to worry as there were hundreds of people around and kids running everywhere. I slowly start walking back to the car looking everywhere for his little red head but no luck. I get back to the car and start knocking for Andrew and ask if Mr J is there. He said no he was with you. That's when I say he wasn't there when I came out and he needed to get out and help me find him. Then all of a sudden Andrew sees him behind me....walking along happy as Larry. I was so upset with him and furious that he walked off with no thought. I asked him what he was doing and he said he couldn't see me so he started walking back. I reminded him how many people were around and how easy it is to get lost and that always the safest thing to do is stay still and wait for me. That's when he looked worried and said did I lose you? Oh yes now it clicks it that although he found me and the car it was just luck and he was lost in the meantime. At least he woke up to how serious it was.
Now time to sit and distress and get ready for the movie to start... When the movie started and it was dark Miss L was really struggling to sleep. She had her milk but she wanted out of her car seat. In the end the big kids sat in the front and I hopped in the back with her. We played games and I tried wearing her out but she started that horrible unhappy tired cry. I finally strapped her into her car seat and patted her until she settled. By this time the movie had been going an hour and I missed most of it. Andrew said it was one of his favs and definitely one to buy on DVD. So I sat in the back seat (thank God for 7 seater vans) and read my Kindle until it was time to go.
Around 9:30pm we left and got everyone home to settle. Miss A was getting teary as she got tired and both crashed pretty quickly. I spent the night reading and watching the fireworks on TV.
Glad to be leaving 2013 behind and looking forward to a new year and new beginnings.
