After a year of not seeing Grandma Mr J asked us twice during the holidays why we don't see Grandma anymore. I was surprised as it came out of the blue and he had asked Dad. Honesty being the best policy we explained it as well as we could.
I want my kids to know the honest truth that Grandma made the choice not to see us and it has nothing to do with them. We basically said that while things may change in the future for now Grandma is busy and doesn't really have the time to see us. We didn't include Grandad or their uncle as that didn't feel fair. We do still see my brother around as he goes to school close to my kids and he is very happy when he sees the kids. I'm hoping in time he will be bale to see us in our own right.
In the meantime I have had other family contact me letting my know my Grandma isn't feeling well. Sad news and a shock to hear it. Good news though that some family members still want to talk to me even with all of the stories my Mum has been telling them.
Here's hoping as the kids grow older things change, but if not we have answered their questions honestly.
