After Miss A had a brain freeze this morning (check Facebook) I was hoping the afternoon would call down. It didn't. So this afternoon I kept busy and Miss L was playing with her toys. When she was was standing with her activity table she started pressing buttons and playing music. She has just started being able to press individual buttons. All of a sudden she started swinging and swaying trying to dance along- so cute.
Then at dinner she joined us at the table and started making noises for food. Another new thing, showing excitement for food. I passed her some mint peas and she shoved them in. So then I put 3 down with space between them. So she leaned over and very carefully used her pincer grasp to get the pea and put it slowly in her mouth. A week ago she couldn't use her pincer grasp (forefinger and thumb touching), a month ago she kept missing her mouth with food. Last week her Physio raised concerns about her shaking and possible ataxia (tremors and coordination). Tonight she got at least 1/3 of the peas in her grasp and happily ate half of what was on my plate.
So even though Miss A was violent and rude today I ended the day on a high.
As she went to bed Miss L waved goodbye to me. Yes after 2 months of teaching her she can raise her own hand and open and close her fist.
wow little victories are the best... I bet she was so proud of herself too. Goes to show that all that time when you wonder if the therapy works isn't wasted. Happy pea eating!
