The blog has been quiet as we have had a week of big changes. I've had limited time to blog but don't forget my Facebook page which I try to update daily.
Well after having so much trouble settling in to school we finally seem to have a resolution. We have met with the principal and deputy and worked on a plan to help Miss A settle and rest during the day. That cut down on the meltdowns but we still have the anxiety...
Anxiety which leads to sleepless nights. So she won't settle to sleep and she wakes many times a night and needs me to put her back to bed.
Towards the end of the week when she had therapy at home I was so impressed with her. She is learning new sounds and how to pronounce C and G. Part of her cerebral palsy is having very lax facial and mouth muscles. When relaxed her mouth opens and her jaw drops. So sounds that come from the back of her mouth or that need her lips and jaw to work are hard! Speech is the one area she is really behind in- which most people don't see as she is a chatterbox. Her pronunciation is lacking and her comprehension/understanding of complex instructions is poor. Doesn't stop her from talking up a storm though!
Out of the whole week Thursday night was our worst- so bad she hopped in and out of our bed like a grasshopper.
In the end I got 1 hour sleep. Didn't matter though as I had a girls night out with the school mums and got to let loose!
A positive in a challenging week :)
